News: Frosty Victory
January 07, 2008
DigitalXpert's volleyball team won the third place at the Christmas Tournament.
On January 7, 2008, an interesting sports event took place in Toxovo, a village near St.Petersburg: the Open Christmas Tournament in snow ground volleyball. The competitions were held for both male and female teams from the North-West region.
Notwithstanding the frost of -10C, the participants were hot. Both the players and the supporters were very enthusiastic about the tournament. A.Pavlova said: "It is the second time that I take place in such competitions. The spirits were festive, the rivals adequate, and so we felt lots of positive emotions and a great charge of energy. We are happy that our team has won the third place in this no easy battle." The rules of snow ground volleyball are practically the same as those of the ordinary beachfront game. The team consists of 4 players.

For the first time, winter volleyball was played in the Alpine resorts of Switzerland. This sports is mainly fancied in mountain ski lodges. In Russia, the first successful tournament in snow ground volleyball was organized by the North-West Volleyball Association on January 7, 2004.
This year, volleyball competitions were not the sole entertainment. Besides that, players and supporters were able to participate in other contests for prizes, such as, for example, rope pulling or valenki (Russian winter-boots) throwing. The latter contest was also won by a DigitalXpert team member, Lubov Filippenko.
